We all are familiar with the fact that WhatsApp is considered one of the most widely used social networking app, being more specific a widely used messaging app with approx. 1 billion active users daily across the world as claimed by WhatsApp itself. Besides having these many users we also know WhatsApp is compatible with again, a huge number of different devices of every type very efficiently without any technical issues. WhatsApp has taken over a big part of our lives and it is not imaginable for us to even consider our lives without it, basically, we all are addicted to it.
But we believe now might be the time for us to start thinking about it that it could be erased from our lives because WhatsApp wants us to. It might come as a shock to you that the most widely used messaging service will not be supported on some pre-listed smartphone devices after 31st of December 2018. That means some users will have abstained from its use on their smartphones.
Why the most famous company took such a decision to terminate its use on some devices?
Like any other usual app comes up with frequent regular updates and new features. The Facebook-owned company does too to constantly evolve by adding new features and updates to give its users the best messaging service they can. This is the exact reason why WhatsApp has decided to terminate its use on various platforms. The new features that WhatsApp wants to add, according to them, need the latest versions of operating systems to run on, which the older smartphone devices might not have. WhatsApp is a company which works with the idea of providing its new constantly evolving benefits to the majority of the population so rather than holding those new features back, WhatsApp decided to terminate its use on some older smartphone devices so that maximum people could get the benefit of it.
WhatsApp has been very upfront and vocal about the same situation and has stated
“The decision was taken because we will no longer be actively developing for these platforms and some features might stop functioning at any time. When we look ahead to our next seven years, we are looking to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms that a vast majority of people use. These platforms/phones don’t offer the kind of capabilities WhatsApp needs to expand its features in the future,” in a statement.
List of devices WhatsApp already pulled its hands from and future plans.
The company has already terminated its use on various platforms last year and has also provided a list of devices on its official website on which devices it will stop working on next and which devices it will still support.
Last year at the exact same time, WhatsApp withdrew its support from:
- BlackBerry OS
- BlackBerry 10
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Windows Phone 8.0 and older
- All Android versions older than 2.3.3
- iPhone 3GS/iOS 6.
How to use Whatsapp on Disabled Devices?
Well, there is nothing much you can do. But if your phone is android and has a minimum v2.3 android version. You can go for WhatsApp Mods which are still working fine when it comes to WhatsApp. These are modified WhatsApp applications.
This process is a continuous one and with the coming years, it will again drop its support from many other operating systems. WhatsApp has already announced that it might even drop the android smartphones working on gingerbread version or older and iPhones working on iOS 7 or older in 2020.
Since WhatsApp holds great importance in our lives so the only option left for us to solve this issue is to change our mobile devices with the ones that have a compatible operating system or upgrade the older operating system of our device to the newer compatible one.
